About Me

I am a 60 year old man who survived a sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) on April 6, 2008. The signature feature of an SCA is the stopping of the heart and injury to the brain. This injury is called an ANOXIC BRAIN INJURY (ABI) due to the loss of blood and oxygen. I was without a heartbeat for at least 15 minutes. The stopping of the heart distinguishes the SCA from a heart attack. If you should wonder whether I was dead, the answer is yes. Now, just looking at me is not going to reveal that fact, but I often feel like a zombie and have been treated like one. Sudden Cardiac Arrest, including Anoxic Brain Injury, is the subject of this blog. Thank you for reading.
